The Oak Brook, Ill.-based company -- the world's largest chain of fast food hamburgers -- released the following statement this afternoon:
The statement continues, "We have been communicating with Carnival to make sure passengers are as comfortable as possible and have taken all the necessary steps to ensure a safe and expeditious return to port and their final destinations."
A McDonald's spokeswoman said the employees are from the west coast and were part of an "incentive trip" for franchise employees and their families.
